LUCIENNE DE NAIE FILES FOR EAST MAUI COUNCIL SEAT
With a list of signatures totaling more than four times what is required by law, community activist Lucienne de Naie filed nomination papers today with the County Clerk making her an official candidate for the (East Maui) council seat being vacated by Robert Carroll.

De Naie cites property tax reform, home grown energy, homes for local families and community solutions to the ice epidemic as prime issues in this campaign. She also stressed the need for responsible management of water resources and the protection of Maui’s natural and cultural resources.
“Not everyone can come to public events to help plan Maui’s future,” de Naie, said. “But we all care about our families and our community. That’s why I’m stepping forward to run for County Council to let these hopes and dreams be heard.”
“I’ve known Lucienne for a lot of years and really admire her willingness and ability to work with our community”, said Antonio Ramil, a key de Naie supporter. “We can count on her to find solutions to the problems facing us.”
A small business owner, de Naie is known for her depth of knowledge in areas of land and water use and her work with key non-profit organizations on behalf of the public interest. She was recently recognized by the governor’s office for her many years of stewardship of public lands.
A Huelo resident for more than two decades, de Naie was recently selected to serve on the 25-member citizens advisory committee updating the County General Plan. She was also chosen to assist with the Hawaiian Tourism Authority’s Strategic Plan update and serve on the Maui Economic and Business Development’s Focus Maui Nui community outreach project.
